SUMMARY:The Music at Sharon Festival - Sharon Temple
DESCRIPTION:The Music at Sharon Festival has confirmed more details for its beautiful summer festival, taking place on the last Sunday in May, and all Sundays in June at the historical Sharon Temple. The audience is invited to pre-concert chats (included in ticket price) with Rick and/or Larry at 1:30 PM in the Temple and when possible, the featured soloists. Audience members are welcome to peruse the beautiful grounds, and take in the historical displays of life from the 1820s. June 12: The distinguished and classy Vancouver pianist Jane Coop will be in recital. "The playing is ravishing, sensual, owerful and deeply affecting", says CD Review. Jane has played solo and chamber music in over 20 countries, and is a dedicated teacher at the University of British Columbia, where she is senior professor and head of the Piano Division. In 1992, she founded the Young Artist Experience, a summer chamber music program for musical teenagers, held at UBC. YAE gives young people a wide exposure to art and life, offering studies in composition, poetry, philosophy, visual arts, music of course, and even yoga – thus proving Jane is really a west coaster despite her birth town of Saint John, New Brunswork. She will perform JS Bach's Partita No. 5 in G, BWV. 829; Beethoven's Eroica Variations Op. 35; Chopin's Impromptus No. 3 and 2; and Scriabin's Piano Sonata No. 3. Sharon Temple is a beautiful National Historic Site located just north of Newmarket. An intimate 230-seat venue, the Sharon Temple is renowned for its acoustics, architectural ambience, and the serene beauty of the surroundings. Directions to 18974 Leslie Street, Sharon, Ontario: Take Highway 404 north to its end. Turn left (west) on Green Lane for 1 km. Turn right (north) on Leslie for 2 km. The Sharon Temple is on the west side. There is ample free parking. For more information on Music at Sharon: www.sharontemple.ca.
