SUMMARY:Author reading with Gail Bowen - East Gwillimbury Civic Centre
DESCRIPTION:Address: 19000 Leslie Street Phone: 905 953 1995 URL: http://www.egpl.ca Gail Bowen is a Canadian playwright and writer of mystery novels. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Bowen was educated at the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo and the University of Saskatchewan. She is currently a professor of English at First Nations University of Canada. Gail Bowen is best known for her series of mystery novels set in Saskatchewan. The main character is amateur sleuth Joanne Kilbourn, a political science professor and widowed mother of three teenagers. This sympathetic middle-aged female protagonist doesn’t just take on crimes but also struggles with the everyday domestic challenges that face contemporary families. Bowen deals with big social issues in these books as well, from sexual harassment and racism to feminist politics and filmmakers' exploitation of their subjects. So far twelve Kilbourn novels have been published. The latest one The nesting dolls appeared in 2010. Six of these books have been adapted as Canadian television movies by Shaftesbury films. https://taur.ecclesiact.com/2011/04/21/author-reading-with-gail-bowen-
