Details:Why a Bed Race?
In 2009 Blue Door Shelters provided almost 20,000 nights of shelter for families and individuals in need. But more is needed. Last year we also had to turn away a total of 2,380 people. As demand for our services grow, our funding is not growing as quickly.
•$3.25 provides one day of food for a Blue Door Shelter resident
•Spending a night in a hospital is 60 times more expensive than spending a night at the Shelter
On Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Aurora Sports Dome from 1-4 pm we will be having our third annual Bed Race which raises funds for the cost of shelter, food and other basic services for homeless families and individuals throughout York Region. The Bed Race combines team events to provide an afternoon of fun, team building and community service.
