The Annual Sutton Duck Race was originally established by the Sutton Merchant’s Association as a unique way of welcoming both the summer tourists and local residents back to the quaint Hamlet of Sutton each spring.
Books of tickets will be distributed to Sutton’s Merchants, whereby Merchants will sell these tickets to the general public. The cost of the tickets will be $2.00 each. Each ticket sold will represent a brightly coloured yellow duck with a corresponding number placed on both the ticket and the duck.
On May 21, 2011 at 12 noon, all the ducks will be placed on the south side of the Black River Mill Pond on High Street behind a boom system created especially for the Duck Race. Then, Special Dignitaries will release the boom containing all the yellow numbered ducks and they will float over the Black River Mill Pond Dam and down the River to the finish line on the north side of the Dam.
$600.00 dollars in prizes will be awarded to the first 5 Ducks that cross the finish line. Prize money Vouchers will be awarded to the winners on the day of the race and can be redeemed at any participating Sutton Merchant’s.
All proceeds will further support the Sutton Merchant’s Association and their community improvement initiatives.
