SPLASH The Floating Water Festival will be held at De La Salle Park at Jackson’s Point in Georgina on Saturday, August 13, 2011 as the first step in the development of an iconic Ontario Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning on Lake Simcoe .
The Festival will celebrate water by challenging everyone to find new ways to create, share, think and dream about water. It will feature unique music and art components about water, display the results of scientific research about water, give its visitors the opportunity to play with water, provide foods based on the history of the aboriginal peoples of the Lake Simcoe area and, using the latest inter-active technologies, inspire everyone to think about and comment on ideas about water and the visionary Water Centre. It will be a vital, practical, spiritual and fun experience for children, families and adults, and will feature partnerships with youth and community groups throughout the region.
Organizers are planning to grow the Festival incrementally each year so that in three years it will spread to more locations to engage everyone in the Lake Simcoe Watershed. More information about the Festival and the water centre can be found at www.ontariowatercentre.ca.
Adults: $7.50; Family (2 Adults & 2 Children): $15.00; Children: $3.00.
