Ontario Hiking Week is an annual celebration of trails to promote trail development, the use of trails, and the healthy lifestyle they encourage. In conjunction with Ontario Hiking Week, The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury will be celebrating its 3rd Annual Trails Day/Mayor’s Hike for Health on Saturday October 1st, 2011. Trails Day/Mayor’s Hike for Health will take place at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area just north of Bradford on the 9th Line east of Highway 11 (County Road 4). The guided hikes (courtesy of sponsor – Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority) will begin at 10am, from the Nature Centre building. The Department of Leisure Services will host the event with some giveaways and a free barbecue following the hike. For those unable to get to Scanlon Creek on your own, Parkview Transit is sponsoring a bus to take people from the Bradford Community Centre at 9:30am and return following after the barbecue lunch. If you need a ride up to the hike, please register with the Leisure Services Department at 905-775-5359 ext. 5102 or email at leisureservices@townofbwg.com.
